Privacy policy

KudoAsk is a service that sends review invitations on behalf of businesses. It is run by Jonathan Cogswell, Ontario, Canada. Questions: hello@kudoask.com.

Two kinds of people

Business users sign up to send invites. Customers are the people a business asks us to email. For customers' data, the business decides who is emailed and why; KudoAsk only carries out that instruction.

What we collect

From business users

• Your email address (to sign you in) and the settings you enter: business name, review link, postal address, reply-to address, message choices.
• If you connect a platform such as Wix, the ID of that installation and the order or payment events needed to know who paid.

About customers

• Email address and, if given, first name, plus an order or payment reference so the same order isn't invited twice.
• Whether the invite was sent, and whether the review button was clicked. We do not use open-tracking pixels.

How long we keep it

• A customer's email address is kept only until their invite is sent (or skipped). After that we keep a one-way coded version (a keyed hash) and a masked form such as s***@example.com, so a business isn't able to ask the same person twice within 180 days and can see its log.
• Invite records are deleted after 180 days.
• Unsubscribes, bounces and spam complaints are kept (as the coded version only) so we never email that person again.
• Business accounts are kept until you ask us to delete them.

What we never do

• We never sell, rent or share customer or business data, and never use a business's customers for our own marketing or for any other business.
• We never contact customers except to send the invite (and the one reminder, if the business turned it on).

Who processes data for us

• Cloudflare: hosting and database.
• Resend: sending email.
• The platform you connect (for example Wix), which sends us the order or payment events you set up.

These providers may process data in the United States and other countries.

Cookies

One cookie, to keep business users signed in to the dashboard. No advertising or analytics cookies.

Your choices

• Customers: every invite has a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also email us to be removed.
• Business users: email hello@kudoask.com to get a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account.

If you are in the EU, UK or Canada you also have rights under GDPR, UK GDPR or PIPEDA, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell business users by email.
